Faroe Islands Group Tour
26 May – 2 June 2027 | 8 days / 7 nights
EIGHT DAYS OF NATURE, ADVENTURE AND GEOCACHING
For our very first Palarunca Geocaching Adventure, we're heading to a destination that seems almost tailor-made for geocachers!
The Faroe Islands are a spectacular archipelago in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. Imagine dramatic cliffs, lush green valleys, powerful waterfalls, picturesque villages and breathtaking landscapes unlike anywhere else in the world.
During this eight-day group tour, we'll explore some of the most beautiful places the islands have to offer. We'll combine famous highlights with hidden gems, exciting excursions, scenic hikes and, of course, plenty of geocaching.
And as always with Palarunca, it's about much more than just finding caches. We want to explore, experience, enjoy nature, discover local culture and, of course, enjoy delicious food along the way!
We'll be travelling in a small group, with Carl and Patricia personally accompanying the entire journey.
Our Travel Itinerary
Day 1 | Wednesday 26 May
Off to the Faroe Islands!
We're heading to the Faroe Islands, where our adventure begins. After arriving at Vágar Airport, we'll make our way directly to our hotel, where we'll spend the first two nights.
Time to meet our fellow travellers and look forward to the adventures awaiting us over the coming days!
Day 2 | Thursday 27 May
Discovering the Beauty of Vágar
Today we'll explore the beautiful island of Vágar. We'll visit the picturesque villages of Bøur and Gásadalur, home to the famous Múlafossur waterfall, which plunges dramatically into the Atlantic Ocean.
Along the way, we'll enjoy spectacular viewpoints, fascinating geocaches and breathtaking scenery. We'll also visit the beautiful Vatnsdalvatn, a special location we originally discovered thanks to geocaching.
Day 3 | Friday 28 May
The Lake Above the Ocean
We'll start the day with a hike to Trælanípa, one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Faroe Islands. From here, the famous Sørvágsvatn, also known as the 'Lake Above the Ocean', appears to float high above the Atlantic Ocean.
After a lovely lunch at Fiskastykkið, we'll discover a few more remarkable places, including the impressive Trøllkonufingur rock formation.
We'll then continue to Tórshavn, where we'll spend the next three nights.
Day 4 | Saturday 29 May
Spectacular Cliffs and Hidden Valleys
Today we'll enjoy an unforgettable boat trip along the impressive Vestmanna Bird Cliffs. From the water, we'll admire towering rock faces, sea caves and the spectacular natural beauty of this coastline.
Afterwards, we'll explore more of Streymoy's stunning landscapes, including the remote village of Saksun and the breathtaking viewpoints around Norðradalur.
Of course, we'll make several geocaching stops along the way and enjoy a relaxing break with coffee and cake.
Day 5 | Sunday 30 May
Tórshavn, the Charming Capital
Today we'll take our time exploring Tórshavn, one of the smallest and most charming capitals in the world.
We'll wander through its atmospheric streets, admire colourful houses with traditional grass roofs and visit some interesting places, including an open-air museum.
There will also be plenty of opportunities for geocaching, including a fun Wherigo and several caches in and around the city.
We'll suggest a varied programme, but everyone is free to join in or explore independently. If you prefer discovering the city at your own pace, you're more than welcome to do so!
Day 6 | Monday 31 May
Waterfalls and Picturesque Villages on the Way to Klaksvík
We'll leave Tórshavn and head north through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Faroe Islands.
Along the way, we'll discover the impressive Fossá waterfall, the idyllic village of Tjørnuvík, Eiði and picturesque Gjógv, famous for its natural gorge harbour.
The spectacular Hvíthamar viewpoint is also on our itinerary. Naturally, we'll make time for special geocaches, photo stops and short walks along the way.
At the end of the day, we'll continue to Klaksvík, where we'll spend our final two nights.
Day 7 | Tuesday 1 June
Kalsoy, the Island of Legends
Today we'll head to Kalsoy, one of the most remarkable and photogenic islands in the archipelago.
We'll take the ferry to this narrow island, known for its steep mountains, green valleys and dramatic coastline.
For those who enjoy hiking, we'll make our way towards the famous Kallur Lighthouse, offering one of the most spectacular views in the Faroe Islands.
We'll also visit the charming village of Mikladalur, where we'll discover the fascinating legend of the Seal Woman.
A wonderful finale to our journey of discovery!
Day 8 | Wednesday 2 June
Farewell to the Faroe Islands
After breakfast, we'll head to the airport for our return flight to Paris.
We'll return home with unforgettable memories, incredible nature experiences, new friendships and undoubtedly plenty of extra smileys on our geocaching maps!
More Than Just a Geocaching Trip
This journey isn't about finding as many caches as possible. It's about discovering extraordinary places that geocaching leads us to.
We deliberately travel in a small group, allowing us to enjoy nature, take our time exploring and embrace the unexpected discoveries along the way.
Beyond geocaching, there's plenty of room for scenic hikes, local culture, shared experiences and delicious food.
Carl and Patricia will personally accompany this journey, sharing their passion for travel, exploration and geocaching with everyone along the way.
